The traditional finale to our racing season is the Commodore pot. This is a novelty race and sees the yacht crews test their athletic and beer drinking skills along with their sailing skills.
The yachts set off on Saturday morning from the start at the Castle they raced around around Brehon Tower race mark before entering St Sampson’s Harbour, where 20% of the crew dis-embarked and made their way with all haste to the Parrot where they had to drink a pint of beer as fast as possible before returning to the boat. The yachts then continued to St Peter Port, where one crewmember was put ashore and again, with all haste, made their way back to the yacht club where another pint of beer had to be drunk.
The finish time being recorded when the empty glass touched the bar!
Much fun was had by all, Martin Boyde’s athletic skill ensured Jostler’s victory, closely followed by Alasdair Round from Kaya and James from Jak Too.
Our Commodore, Peter Lloyd presented the trophy to the winning crew, much needed hotdogs were then washed down with yet more beer!
Thank you, everyone.
