On Thursday 24th October we were honoured to welcome John Parker from OneSails to the club, to give a presentation on Sails. John is a well respected sail maker and was invited to Guernsey by Simon Hughes of Sun Yachts who is OneSails’ representative in the Island.
John treated us to a fantastic presentation on the sail maker’s art, giving us an insight into wefts, warps, resin fillers, stretch tests and flutter tests. We were each provided with samples of sail cloths from the basic dacron through laminates to the latest carbon fibre and John explained in detail the pros and cons of each one.
A truly fascinating and informative evening, thank you very much John for sharing some of your knowledge and thank you Simon for arranging it.
