Summer Series – Evening Races

The summer weather was not on our side for the Randalls’ sponsored race on the 22nd August , so sadly the race had to be cancelled.

We rescheduled the Race for Thursday, the 5th of September where six boats took to the water on a beautiful summer evening, but again the weather was not on our side as despite the warm sunshine there was next to no wind. With what wind there was in the north, so a course was set from the Start up to Refée back down to Anfré and finish.

However, it became clear that in the ever decreasing wind this was not attainable, so the Race officer shortened the course to Refée and then finish.

With the North Tide all the boats made it easily to Refée where despite all coming inshore to escape the northerly tide there was not enough wind to make any headway on the return South. Sadly, all the boats retired with Dave Aslett’s Glory Days sticking it out till it became evident, that they could not finish. All crews retired to the club for well earned sustenance and refreshment, courtesy of our sponsors Randalls.

So very sadly we only managed to complete two of the four races of the series. Over winners being. Martin Boyde’s Jostler who received the trophy.

Many thanks, of course, to our very generous sponsors
