Results from Yesterday’s Boatworks Frostbite Race 6.
Blue skies and a gentle NW breeze saw the yachts head up to Reffée with a spinnaker leg out Aiguillons. The course then took the yachts on a beat up towards St Sampson’s leaving Vivian race mark to port where they again set spinnakers to sail all the way down Guernsey’s east coast past St. Peter Port and down to Anfré post of Fermain. The final leg saw them sail back up to the finish off Castle Cornet. The class 2 yachts sailed a similar (but shorter) course using Reffée instead of Vivian and Race mark U instead of Anfré.
With just one race in the series it’s very ‘tight’ in both classes. In Class 1 the top 2 boats are both on 6 points with Kevin Jones’ Saiki ahead on countback over Martin Priest’s Fandangle. In Class 2 Rupert Dorey’s Varmint is just 1 point ahead of David Aslett and Matt Knowles’ Glory Days with 5 points and 6 points respectively. So all to play for in the last race of the series on Saturday 28th March.
Following the race all the crews all returned to the club for a well earned beer and Hot Dogs courtesy of our generous sponsor Boatworks where the first 3 boats in each class received the traditional prize of a bottle of wine.
